Offer Comparison Calculator

Enter the components of the offer and your current package. Sign-on counts once; equity counts as its annual grant value.

Year-one total compensation—
Steady-state annual compensation—
Year-one gain vs current—
Year-one change—
Monthly gross base—

Equity is valued at the annual grant value in the offer letter, not at a future exit price. Sign-on is counted once. Taxes are not modelled.

How the totals are built

Year one = base + target bonus + annual equity value + sign-on. Steady state removes the sign-on. The comparison uses your current total compensation as the baseline, so enter it on the same basis as the offer.

What to negotiate with these numbers

If base is capped by a band, sign-on, equity, title or start date may still move. The calculator shows how much each lever is worth per year, which is what makes a trade concrete.

Frequently asked questions

Is sign-on really only worth one year?

As cash, yes. It can also carry a clawback period. The steady-state figure is the number to compare when you expect to stay more than a year.

Should I include 401k match or pension?

If both offers have similar plans, leaving them out keeps the comparison clean. If one is materially better, add the annual value to that side manually.

What if the bonus is not guaranteed?

Set the bonus to the guaranteed portion, or run the comparison twice — once at target and once at zero.
